One year ago, I wrote a post about a judgmental grocery store clerk who gave me a beady eye because I bought baby food for my cat.

And thus, this blog was born.

For the last fifty-two Sundays, I’ve posted my thoughts on life, books, my search for the perfect wicker basket and weed whacking (I don’t recommend it.)

Some weeks so many funny things happen that I could write five or six posts about my week. Other times, when work is slow and I spend my evenings reading, writing, or watching the Gilmore Girls, I have to wrack my brain a bit more.

More than anything, this blog has taught me that there’s always something worth writing about. Every life is full of funny, amazing, or poignant moments if you’re in the mood to look for them.

And like everyone else, I’m trying to remember to look for them. To turn off the radio, stop checking my phone, and just soak in the day.  To roll down the windows in the summer and play in the snow in the winter.  To forget politics for an afternoon and read a classic novel.  To spend more time with the ones you love and less on meaningless obligations.

To do something every week that’s worthy of five-hundred words or so.

That’s my plan for the next year, and the next fifty-two blogs. Another year of holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, friends, family, food.

And writing.

And laughter.

But hopefully no snakes.

Bring it on!
