Let’s continue our maudlin journey through the women of country music, shall we? LeeAnn Womack reminds me a lot of Patty Loveless. Both had a spell of commercial success, but instead of turning to pop they return to their roots. They’re both sell a lot fewer records than they used to, but they’re still making killer country music.
Ooooh, I really like this song! Country Music took a big loss when Lee Ann Womack and Patty Loveless went back to Bluegrass music. They both have great country voices. Lee Ann’s voice is so crystal clear and country, she brings it. This song is a sad, somber reflection of a middle age woman looking in the mirror and thinking about the past twenty years in her life and thinking “what the hell happened”? Most of us, if we are granted the good fortune to live long enough, will have this kind of moment, usually more than once. Lee Ann’s crystal clear voice makes this moment really come to life, what a treat for the listener. Moving lyrics, a great voice add up to a perfect song. Great selection Egg.
