I’m not the biggest Carly Simon fan. I always thought You’re So Vain is a silly sort of song, but I found this song a few years ago when I went down a YouTube video. As Carly herself says in the intro, it’s a weird song. It’s such a depressing and cynical take on marriage, but somehow, it works.

WOW!!! This song is outstanding!!! I generally like most of Carly Simon’s songs, but this song just blew me away! I listened the first time, and was amazed at the lyrics and how great Carly sounds, then I had to listen a second time to “really listen”, boy I was not disappointed, the lyrics are superb, mostly because they ring true to so many people, and second they just catch you and pull you into the song. My favorite line of the song is “Drown in love’s debris”, what a line. The video and song are absolutely superb. One of your better selections Egg.
This is such a sad song – I LOVE the piano music before she begins each new stanza. It’s really good. I’ve never heard of this song before either. The lyrics talking about how the kids hate the parents…so sad…and how they hate themselves too….. hey, sounds GREAT…let’s move in together and raise a family!
