If you’re not paying attention, this debut song by Maddie and Tae sounds like every other pop country song on the radio today. But if you listen closely, it’s a searing indictment of “bro country.” You know bro country–the fact that every country song on the radio is sung by a scruffy guy in a ball cap about how he’s looking a hot girl. And every music video provides an unnamed blonde who shakes her sugar until she’s lucky enough to get called up into the cab of the truck of her beer guzzling Romeo.
As Maddie and Tae sing:
Conway and George Strait
Never did it this way
Back in the old days
We ain’t a cliche
That ain’t no way
To treat a lady
If you’ve heard it before, listen again. Your head will be nodding the whole way through.
Great song, I really listened, and I agree with the ladies, no way to treat a lady. And they are so right, Conway and George Strait never did it this way. Plus the video was hilarious, loved that slob washing the truck with the soap suds all over himself…..pretty little thing….LOL. Great selection Egg
I have loved this song since it came out! Love it. Country music sure has changed since the greats…Conway and Strait!!
